How we do it
These boys' backgrounds are very different. Without basketball there would be little chance for them to interact.

Although they may all live within relatively short driving distances - the neighborhoods they live in and schools they attend are very different.

The game of basketball creates situations where one must communicate and cooperate in the context of the team to realize any success. Such situtations offer character development opportunities for these young men as each meet, often for the first time, individuals of equal or greater strength and talent.

Their ability to succeed on this team and against Junior Olympic competition rests on their commitment to personal development and to one another. It is called teamwork.

In the picture above, these young men are focused in the huddle because they are committed. It is the last few seconds of a game in which they trailed by as many as ten points. Now down by only two they know they have a chance... a chance to WIN.

On the basketball court these young men learn to succeed in the context of a team. Such success with not be a function of individual talent, race, creed or color. It will result from communication, cooperation and understanding.

Their success in this arena will start them on other similar roads to success in everything they do - at home, - in school, - in the community and in their careers.

We know their lives will be materially different as a result of these experiences. Playing and working together to achieve a common goal. That is why we are excited and committed to these boys.

Help us help these boys and others like them who too want to succeed. Help them when it counts most and at a time in their lives when they need it most - right now!
